AI Talks & Expert Insights

Professor Weiqi Zhong, Dr. Fang Yang, Professor Po-Shen Loh, Dr. Hong Yang, and Ben Daniel connect students with data science, AI and education, actuarial careers, collaborative AI agents, and practical ways to approach real-world problems. Club topics also include Sora, AlphaFold, bioinformatics, LLMs, transformers, and deepfakes.

Seeing Problems Through the Lens of Data Science and Artificial Intelligence

Guest speaker Ben Daniel led an online seminar on August 30, 2026, sharing a practical perspective on using data science and AI to approach real-world problems.

STEM & career exploration

At the Atlanta Science Festival, students moved among university, industry, and community demonstrations—comparing how different fields ask questions, gather evidence, and test ideas.

Electricity & physical systems

A hand-crank generator demonstrated how magnets, coils, motion, and energy work together to create electricity.

Neuroscience & health

Emory exhibits connected brain science, behavior, sleep, environmental health, and scientific observation.

Engineering & testing

Hands-on demonstrations showed how engineers build, measure, revise, and explain physical systems.

Motorsports

Kennesaw State Formula SAE made design tradeoffs, materials, testing, and team engineering visible up close.

Learning beyond the club

Community outreach

The club extends learning beyond its regular meetings through youth teaching, community-center study, online instruction, public STEM engagement, and an industry experience at Atlanta’s Coda Building.

Youth data-science lesson

Students introduced younger learners to applications, statistics, machine learning, AI, and the complete data-science process.

Community-center study

Study sessions at Kroger Community Center made software setup, Python, NumPy, pandas, analysis, and visualization a shared activity.

Online instruction

Virtual lessons on Pandas DataFrames and data cleaning allowed students to learn together across different locations.

Coda industry experience

Students met in an Atlanta technology setting to see how technical teams exchange ideas, collaborate, and connect learning with work.
